A key ring chapstick holder is great so you’ll never lose your chapstick, and you’ll always have it with you, wherever you go. I was able to make this project in about an hour, sewing it by hand.
You will need:
-Fabric scissors
-Fabric
-Needle and thread
-Iron
To start, you should cut out a rectangle of fabric, 10”x2”.
I’m using this really pretty lighthouse fabric. Then, sewing as straight as you can, hem both of the long sides.
When you sew by hand, your sewing has a right side, and a wrong side. Make sure the wrong side of your sewing is on the wrong side of your fabric. See pictures below for example.
Right side Wrong side
Then, on the top of your strip, fold down about half an inch, and sew that.
Now, taking a key ring, thread the bottom of your fabric through, and fold it down (The end that has NOT been sewn)
-You'll want to grab your tube of chapstick for this part- Take your tube of chapstick and measure how large you want your chapstick pocket to be. You'll probably want it to be large enough so it just covers the bottom part of the lid. Grab a pin and pin around the edges. Now you can sew all around the edges.
As you can see in the photo, I sewed on the outer edge of where I sewed before. There were quite a few layers of fabric, so it was a little hard in places. A thimble really helped though.
I ironed mine (just pressed it flat), but it didn't seem to make much difference, so I wouldn't bother.
