How to: Dangle Letter

[Note: I’m sorry about the posting schedule! I recently moved and not only have I not had time to post, I have also not had internet for a while.]

This lettering is quite a bit of fun, and I find myself drawing these letters on all my school notes because there are so many possibilities!
You will need:
-A blank card
-Colored pencils
-Fine point black Sharpie
-Pencil
To start, I drew some basic block letters with my pencil. You can trace other letters if you want, or print some letters out with a light color font.
As you can see, I drew my letters very lightly because I will be tracing over them with a fine point Sharpie later.
Now, just study these lines for few moments. These are just a few of the different dangles you can draw on your letters. If you want more options, look up “dangle lettering”.
Now, using the first and last dangle option, I drew a “C” with a few dangles on it.

Notice how I did one on the bottom, top, and middle of the letter. You don’t have to do your dangles exactly how I did them, that is the fun part about this! You can really get creative with the lettering styles.
Now, back to my card, I drew quite a few dangles on my letters. I wanted more of a busy look on my card. Since we will be coloring out letters in later, while you are drawing your letters you should be thinking about your color scheme.

After I finished my dangles, I just corrected my letters a bit. That’s why the “O” looks a little funny. Then, carefully I traced my letters and dangles with my favorite pen; the black fine tipped Sharpie.
Now you can take your favorite colored pencils and color in your letters. I decided to do a rainbow for my letters since I’m sending this card to my sister, and I know she loves rainbow!
Enjoy dangle lettering, and don’t be surprised when you start doodling these letters all over your notes in class!
